The previous surface in Shimizu’s injection moulding operation contained many layers of ordinary floor paint, but this had been subject to damage by fork lift traffic.
The brief was for a long-lasting surface that was easy to clean and would hold its colour.
A 2-3 mm finish was applied of Reeflor EL002 a trowel-applied, self-smoothing epoxy coating containing fine aggregates. Contrasting colours differentiated pedestrian walkways, and a zebra crossing was in-built.
