This miscellaneous category is typified by the more unusual projects we have been asked to handle. The projects below illustrate Reepol’s ability to meet the most demanding requirements in terms of product specification, and also our flooring contractors’ abilities to meet quite unusual constraints during installation.
London Aquarium Existing tiles harboured bacteria and the brief was to provide a black, non-reflective seamless surface that would eliminate the bacteria hazard. Work was carried out while the Aquarium remained open, demanding minimum noise (so as not to disturb the fish), no smell or dust. After existing tiles had been removed it was discovered that the underlying slab was damp, so a surface DPM was installed. Regrip CQ3000 was then applied, a decorative quartz screed.
Manchester Velodrome Reepol installed the original epoxy flooring requirement when the Manchester Velodrome was opened in 1996 for the Commonwealth Games. This latest project was an upgrade of the off-run and warm-up areas for the World Championships in 2002. Given the critical nature of the surface for racing bikes, this needed to be extremely smooth and blemish-free. The surface was prepared by grinding, followed by the application of two coats of Reecote EC015, a water-dispersible epoxy finish.
